(4) Universities from Which University Teachers Graduated and Those in Which They Serve
As shown in Chart 3-14, the proportion of teaching staff in
the universities with the graduate course graduating from the same universities
in which they teach, stood at 42.1% in national universities, 38.0% in local
universities and 40.0% in private universities respectively. Classified by faculties,
the proportion of teaching staff serving in the same universities from which
they graduated is high at around 50-60% in the medical and dental faculties in
national, local and private universities. In national universties, that proportion
is high in the faculties dealing with humanities, social science, science and
engineering.

Next, with regard to the distribution of all university teachers,
classified by universities from which they graduated, about a half are the graduates
of a total of eight universities, as shown in Table 3-4. Classified by the faculty
in which they serve, graduates of a total of four universities are found to occupy
about a half of teaching positions in the faculties relatecl to humanities and
the faculty of education.
