3. Recruiting Doctorate and Elevating Researcher's Mind-set
As a reason that businesses do not employ those who have completed
doctor courses, it is pointed out that those who have completed the doctor courses
or persons of postdoctorals "are lacking flexibility in handling issues
outside their specialized fields," and "tend to make too much of basic
researches and academic activities. ( Fig.
10 )."

On the other hand, the same survey of fiscal 2000 is reporting
the positive side of the matter in the top list of the responses that businesses
having actual experience in recruiting such people during the past 3 years have
found them activating their research workplaces by capitalizing on their expertise,
resourceful initiatives, knowledge on research trend and their personal acquaintances
( Fig. 11 ). In particular,
many businesses are encouraging researchers to have plural specified fields under
the catchwords of "from T-type to π-type personality." (The horizontal
bar of T and π signifies the wide span of knowledge, while the vertical line
the deeply cultivated knowledge.)
