Since in the 21st century expectations to science and technology
to contribute to the development of mankind are greater than those in the 20th
century, the promotion of science and technology as the source of knowledge will
increase importance.
The many activities in society will come to be supported by
the knowledge of science and technology, and the distance between science and
technology and society will become closer.
The public is required to have adequate knowledge about the
content of science and technology which is under development, to consider the
social significance of such science and technology in a responsible manner, and
to participate in the decision-making process relating to such activities.
